How a Jaguar Smart Key Works
Jaguar smart key is a convenient way to lock and unlock your vehicle from the distance. Like all electronic devices, it is powered by a battery.
Your car might show a decrease in its effective signal range if your Smart Key battery begins to run out. The message center may also show an alert "SMART-KEY BATTERY IS LOW".
Keyless Entry
This feature allows you to enter your Jaguar without having to search through your purse or pockets. The system uses a proximity sensor to detect the Jaguar Smart Key, which will trigger the automatic opening of your XE. When you are near the vehicle, just hold any door handle it will open and disarm automatically. When you leave your vehicle, you can lock it by pressing a button on the door handle or pressing the key fob.
You can also use the Powered Gesture trunk lid feature in your Jaguar XE. This allows you to open the trunk with the use of a gesture, and you can carry bags, groceries, or sporting equipment without needing to reach inside your purse or wallet for the key. This is a wonderful feature for those who spend the majority of their time carrying gear around Gilbert and get tired of having to use their hands.
Hold the Activity Key against your trunk when you're ready to close it. The hazard light will blink when it's connected.
The battery of the Jaguar Smart Key does not need to be replaced like other smart keys. It is possible that the range of your key fob is decreasing, and it will not respond to commands instantly. Replace the battery as soon you notice this.

With your Jaguar Smart Key, you can quickly shut off your car alarm if it's playing at a maximum volume. The panic button is an easy function that can be beneficial in certain situations.
Press the Smart Key button with a symbol of a headlamp three times in a span of three seconds to trigger panic mode. It will activate the vehicle's lights for 25 seconds, and then sound the alarm five times in order to discourage an offender. Pressing the button again turns off the alarm that sounds the panic.
Another option is to utilize the Jaguar Activity Key to lock and unlock your vehicle without having the conventional Smart Key fob inside. Simply slide the Activity Key onto your wrist, close all doors, switch off your engine and then hold the Activity Key against the Jaguar emblem on your tailgate. Your vehicle will then be secured, and your hazard lights will flash to indicate that the vehicle is secured.
If the battery in your Smart Key fob is low you will hear a warning and you will see "SMART Key Battery Low" displayed in the middle of the display. If you have to replace the battery, simply remove the chrome cover on the key fob, and then slide out the CR2032 battery and replace it with a fresh one that is facing towards the upwards.
Increased Security
Jaguar's keyless entry feature is available on a range of models, which eliminates the need to play with your keys when you are getting ready to leave for your Irvine commute. The XE makes use of proximity sensors to sense your key fob when you are near the car and it will unlock and disable your security once you pull the door handle. This feature is particularly useful for those who frequently lose their keys on the move or need to manage multiple bags, keys and children in the morning before heading to work.
You can also lock your Jaguar with its touch screen. Press the lock icon one time to secure your vehicle and activate its alarm. Press it twice to lock your vehicle twice. This ensures that the vehicle isn't unlocked or opened from inside even if someone shatters the window to gain access.
If you'd like to boost your Jaguar's security you can take advantage of the Guardian Mode in the InControl Remote application. This feature will notify your smartphone whenever it detects any unusual movements of your vehicle. A notification will be immediately sent to your smartphone if the vehicle has been altered. This will allow you to inform the police right away. This feature protects your Jaguar against theft and is available on the majority of E-PACE F-PACE and I'PACE models.

Convenience
A Jaguar smart key can lock your car, without you to engage the knob which allows you to keep keys in a pocket or bag. It also allows remote start of your vehicle so you can leave for your Rumson or Colts Neck commute already warmed or chilled.
This feature is a great option for outdoor enthusiasts and those who love sports, who don't want to risk putting their keys in their car while they're on the trail or biking. You can also make use of your smart key to regulate your car's climate controls and seat settings, which allows you to customize your car before you even step inside your Jaguar.
Although Jaguar's smart keys are more secure than traditional keys, you should still be careful when using them in public places such as restaurants or gas stations. They transmit a low-frequency signal that could be detected by others and used to unlock or even start the car.
Fortunately, this is easy to avoid by using the remote start system only when you're confident that you're in a secure location and that no one else is able to see your smart key. You can also trigger the alarm from afar that will be loud enough to scare away possible thieves. The Keylab can also add an Activity Key to your smartkey to get rid of the need for a keyfob when you are out mountain biking or hiking.
